This service has been offered by Agrifoods since the early 1990's.
Primarily, it was initiated to aid farmers who may have lost milk due
to off flavours.
Staff, specialized in this field, were called upon to confirm a taste or
odor on milk and then attempt to find the cause. Fieldmen were trained
and provided test equipment to analyze milking equipment, milk procedures
and sanitation practices.
Today fieldmen may be called upon to assess problems ranging from
ventilation to water quality, however, most work is now of a preventative
nature.
