The School Services and Facilities Division is
responsible for maintaining a liaison with school boards and other
educational agencies in the interpretation and application of
legislation, teachers' collective agreements, regulations, and
departmental policies pertaining to the operation of schools. The
division is also responsible for teacher certification, and capital
school construction projects. This division administers the capital construction program for the province. Capital funding is provided by the Education Investment Corporation (EIC) which receives funding from government. The EIC approves applications from school boards for capital projects based on provincial priorities and recommendations from staff of the division. School planning standards are also developed and administered by this division.
