Responsible for:

Providing police services in areas of the province as follows:

Preventing crimes and other offences and providing assistance  and encouragement in their prevention;
Assisting victims of crime;

Conducting criminal investigations into alleged breaches of the   Criminal Code of Canada, the Narcotic Control Act, and other federal and provincial statutes;
Apprehending criminals and other offenders who may lawfully be taken into custody;
Laying charges, prosecuting and participating in prosecutions;
Executing warrants that are to be executed by the police;
Processing applications for firearms acquisitions certificates (FAC); and
Issuing certificates of conduct.
