Public Records Committee
The Public Records Committee (PRC) is responsible for
authorizing the disposal of Government records. It's composition
is mandated in The Archives Act
as follows: the Provincial
Archivist and the Deputy Minister of Tourism,
Culture and Recreation, the Departments of Justice and Finance, and
the Auditor General. The Provincial
Records Manager is the ex-officio Secretary of the committee.
Records which come under the definition of "Government Records"
in the Archives
Act cannot be disposed of without approval from the Public
Records Committee.
Records retention schedules and records disposal requests are
submitted to, and approved by, the PRC on an on-going basis.
