We are experiencing an historical period in Newfoundland and Labrador. We are witnessing the beginning of a tremendous project for everyone in this province - Voisey's Bay. We set out to achieve a project which would result in full and fair benefits for you, the people of Newfoundland and Labrador. We have met this challenge.
Voisey's Bay will have a positive impact on our province. There will be hundreds of jobs in Labrador and on the Island; new educational opportunities for our post-secondary students; business and procurement contracts for our local business community; opportunities for aboriginal peoples; increased investment in the province's mineral exploration industry; new revenues for the province; new infrastructure; and new technologies that will establish Newfoundland and Labrador as a centre of excellence in mineral processing.
I encourage each and every one of you to review the information on the project. We are confident that we have met the mandate you have given us.
