EMPLOYEE ID PROTOCOLS

Diligent use of staff photo ID cards is an important component of a more secure environment. Identification badges will help us distinguish visitors from employees, increasing the convenience and safety of both. For example, visitors can easily be identified at sight and can readily be offered direction or assistance by badge-wearing employees. In an emergency, visitors can be assisted by employees with standard procedures (such as evacuation from the building).

Effective April 15, 2002 government employees in the Confederation Complex will be required to wear government ID cards while at work. Once ID cards have been implemented in the Confederation Complex, they will be phased in throughout various other government buildings, as designated by the Minister of WST.

In fall 2002 all employees of the Confederation Complex and various other designated government buildings, as may be applicable, will receive electronic ID cards, which will replace regular photo ID cards. The new IDs will allow employees electronic access to the facilities. Regular photo IDs will continue to be used in buildings where employees have not been issued electronic IDs.

Additional information on ID Cards can be obtained from your Human Resources Director
